Dollar Days JNL is based on a type design found in a 1930s catalog from the National Sign Stencil Company. 

The National Show Card Writer sign making set contained many different sizes and styles of lettering stencils, and additional type designs could be purchased as add-ons.

This product was one of the many economical ways merchants, religious organizations, schools and others could make their own signs at low cost.
