Cumhuriyet Typeface
Cumhuriyet means “a form of government in which the nation holds sovereignty in its own hands and exercises it through elected representatives for certain periods of time.” The reason why I gave this name to the typeface is that 2023 is the hundredth anniversary of the Cumhuriyet of Turkey, founded by Atatürk. The Cumhuriyet font, which is sans serif, includes multilingual Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic and Hebrew alphabets. In addition, to the seventy styles it contains, this font family also serves many different design purposes. In terms of weights, Cumhuriyet font has Extralight, Light, Regular, Medium, Semibold, Bold and Extrabold styles. All these weights also support Condensed, Narrow, Normal, Wide and Expanded styles from narrow to wide. Thus, when we say Cumhuriyet typeface, we are talking about a family consisting of seventy fonts. With its geometric features, the Cumhuriyet font has received many innovations and improvements with the second version. First of all, the Cumhuriyet font has been rearranged in terms of the space between letters (kerning), the space between words (tracking) and the space between lines (leading). The design of most of the glyphs in the font, especially the Arabic letters, was renewed and thus the font gained a more stable and aesthetic structure. In addition, with the second version, the font gained new opentype features and existing opentype features were also improved. Opentype features added to the Cumhuriyet font are as follows:

● Character variation for eleven individual Latin letters

Undoubtedly, one of the biggest works carried out regarding the Cumhuriyet typeface is related to Small capital and Petite capital letters. Small capitals can be derived from both lowercase and uppercase letters, and most diacritics in the Latin alphabet are supported. Another innovation is the addition of Petite capital letters to the Cumhuriyet typeface. Cumhuriyet typeface contains fonts that offer multi-purpose usage opportunities, especially in printed products, media, digital environments and in every field of writing.
